Since we have to travel a lot of miles today to get to Charleston, we have set the Alarm clock for 6:30am. That way we could, at least in theory, leave at an early hour.
The suitcases had to be repacked. Not like we’re unpacking them all the time, on the contrary, but new stuff does keep sneaking in…
After breakfast we got our luggage from the hotelroom and had the car brought out. Very convenient, Valet Parking, and (in this case) ardly any more expensive that parking yourself. The hotel personnel is more than friendly and assistive. We know it is their work, but sometimes we – and especially Miriam – do have a problem with it. It’s got nothing to do with being stingy, the guy will get his tip anyway, but it is about having someone else carry your stuff, while you’re walking behind them empty handed!

Day 7: Washington DC

Another great nights’ sleep, great bed! Much better then waking up in the morning, broken because you had to sleep in a dingy bed …
After showers and dressing we went to have breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Breakfast is included, so we definitely will gratefully use it.
Another buffet with an ‘omelet station’, very tempting. A very kind chef poured his soul in to the eggs and omelets. Samantha too has again found her way to the omelet station. Ordering is getting easier by the day for her, but she really-does-not-speak-English! ;o)

Day 6: Gettysburg
July 29th, 2010 · 1 Comment
We slept very well in a good bed last night and only woke up at around half past six. Not too bad!
Todaywe’ll go to the Gettysburg National Military Park. Here we will, if we’re to believe the information we gathered beforehand, learn more about the crucial battles that took place here.
But first we have to get dressed and get the suitcases ready to be put back in to the car.
And then of course breakfast. It was a small breakfast buffet, but there was also a chef ready to cook pancakes and eggs to order. In the corner there were two waffle irons where you could make your own waffles. It all tasted great.
